Shakara S. Smith, PA-C and Robert Kondos, PA-C 

Physician's Assistants (PAs) are members of the healthcare team that are licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. They are trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative healthcare services, in the manner directed by the supervising physician. They can provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, diagnose and treat illnesses, counsel on healthcare, and write prescriptions. Shakara and Robert play an integral role in the global management of neurosurgery patients, including all aspects of pre-, intra- and post-operative care, routine follow up visits, and serves as first assistant with all neurosurgical procedures. 

Vickie Gross, LPN

A Licensed Practical Nurse, is an integral part of the neurosurgical team.  LPNs have considerable knowledge of the principles and skills needed to provide patient care and treatment. They are skilled in taking vital signs, maintaining records and writing reports. Vickie performs duties that include patient intake and assessment used to assist Dr. Yalamanchili in his diagnosis, assisting in preparing patients for surgery, and providing patient care and recommendations to patients who call with concerns.  She is highly trained to handle patient issues under the direction of the surgeon, urgently relay critical issues to the MD/PA/NP, and effectively communicate treatment plans to the patient.
